The Hills Have Style

Another addictive episode of the Hills was on last night. This one was especially fun because it was sort of a mini Laguna reunion, with Stephen and Lo galore. Even though I see completely through the fakeness of the show, I can't help but watch it. The lush LA lifestyle they all live is just too much fun not to watch.

The best part? The clothes, of course! The girls' trendiness is always on tee, and basically every time one of them enters the scene in a new outfit, I'm ogling at their ensemble. I love how they all have their own style - Lauren and Lo are all about the Hollywood trendy, Audrina is a little more rock n roll, and Whitney is trendy but funky. I like to think my personal style is a bit of all of the combined, but slightly cheaper and Goodwill-friendly. Oh if only my college budget allowed for such a California-chic wardrobe!

And have you been noticing Lauren's gravitation towards braids lately? I personally love the look, and wish I sported it more often. But it doesn't seem like an everyday 'do to me, which is what she's turning it into!

tight end

An article in the new Nylon got my mind reeling about leggings. When I was six it was perfectly acceptable to wear purple leggings (stirrup no less) with bedazzled t shirts. Now I'm not so sure I could pull off the purple stirrups like I used to, however I still fantasize about those days..

Anyways, the article discussed the leggings-as-pants issue. I have to say, when leggings came en vogue circa 2005, I was def an offender of that one. However, older and wiser! I now think leggings are only ok with a long top that covers the butt cheeks. I don't like leggings and skirts at all. I dunno, just looks weird to me, very 14-year-old-Hollister-wearing-mall-rat.

I still continue to don my trusty black leggings, because they're easy, casual, and go with all of my men's shirts that are too long for pants and too short without. Black is really the only color I like for leggings, mainly because it goes with everything. I think if you are going to get a color other than black, they should be insane. The two American Apparel ones pictured here are epic. The blue ones are awesomely shiny. And, like my purple stirrups, I do often have fantasies about the shiny gold ones...

Red bandana in my back pocket

The epicness of the bandana is extremely understated. Whodathunk a square piece of fabric could be so versatile, functional, and fashionable?

Trademarked by cowboys, the bandana breaks all molds, surpassing time and groups. Hippies, construction workers, lesbians, scene kids, farmers, Survivor contestants, bikers, painters, cancer patients, gangsters, wangsters and thugs all don the classic scarf for their own purposes, in their own ways. And everyone thought paisley died with the 70s.

How do you sport yours? I can often be found with one around my neck like a bib. Cause I'm messy like that.

I currently own two bandanas: navy and powder blue. I'm looking to get all the other colors of the rainbow by the end of summer.
